May be a Good Idea, May be Not

I received a text from my son this day asking for his father's full name. I thought it was for some form concerning the apprenticeship he wishes to persue, so I gave him all his father's names & explanations as to why he had different names. Son wishes to track down his father & demand the maintenance for himself that I never received. The CSA awarded £11/child/week since his arrest, so Llyw is owed (in theory) £11 x 52 x 7 (well it's several weeks over the 7 years now, but I was making things easy for myself!) = £4004! s wanted money from his father, despite being suspended on full pay & living cost free with my parents whilst on bail & his father obliged. When s's mother was dying, she asked for him &, as he'd turned up out the woodwork with a new female, contacting his father, so his address was passed from his father to his step-father & thence (illegally as as victim I'm not supposed to know his whereabouts...) to me. s never visited his mother & wasn't at the funeral last month. I'm not sure if Llyw confronting his father is a good thing or not, but that boy is as stubborn & pig-headed as I (& his father) am & has his father's temper at times. So who will come out of any confrontation better? I'm not sure if I should encourage Llyw in his pursuit or try to dissuade him from confronting his violent abusive father. I've never tried to stop my childer having contact with him & tried to encourage contact in the early days, but the girls refused & after Llyw's letters were ignored, he gave up. I think this is something he has to do for himself, but I hope that he will leave me & my current whereabouts out of it or we'll have to run again & I hope he does this AFTER his sister's wedding.
